Yellow Weather Warning Ahead!
The likelihood of a white Christmas is diminishing, as mild and mostly dry weather is predicted to settle across the UK just in time for the holiday.
In contrast, the lead-up to Christmas is expected to be much more unsettled.
Strong winds are forecast, potentially causing disruption for the millions planning to travel over the weekend. The Met Office has already issued yellow weather warnings in preparation.
Rain on Friday, followed by a windy weekend
Friday is expected to be relatively calm.
Rain will move from west to east, with sunny intervals and showers arriving in Northern Ireland and Scotland by the afternoon.
After a chilly start in some areas, temperatures are anticipated to reach 7–11°C by the afternoon, slightly above the seasonal average.
While Friday will be breezy, the winds will strengthen in the west, bringing the potential for more impactful conditions over the weekend.
